The Sectors Dholera Is Built For

Proven: semiconductors

Semiconductors and electronics are Dholera's flagship sector. The anchor is the Tata Electronics + PSMC fab (Rs 91,000 cr, up to 50,000 wafers/month, 300mm, nodes 28 to 110 nm, ASML as lithography partner), which makes Dholera home to India's first major commercial semiconductor fab. DURABLE That draws a natural ecosystem of packaging, materials and supplier firms around it. It is the strongest, most bankable sector story here.

Proven: solar and renewables

Dholera doubles as a clean-power hub. The anchor is ~300 MW of Tata Power solar commissioned, within a 1,000 MW sanctioned Phase-I and a 5,000 MW ultimate target by around 2030, with ReNew, SJVN, Vena and TEQ Green awarded capacity. Emerging: data centres

Honest positives: plug-and-play trunk infrastructure (power, ICT/fibre, water) already built in the Activation Area, a coastal location that supports seawater desalination for cooling once the 200 MLD plant lands, an adjacent solar park for the 51% green-power mandate, and a state policy that now treats data centres as an incentivised essential service. REPORTED The semiconductor plus data-centre plus green-power co-location is a coherent digital-industrial cluster story.

Honest caveats, not buried: current desalination is only ~20 MLD, the 200 MLD plant is at consultant stage, 7.5 GW of demand needs far more renewable and grid capacity than today's ~300 MW on-site solar, and most big rupee figures are announcements. REPORTED

Emerging: logistics and trade

Dholera's logistics case rests on being the flagship DMIC node with fast-arriving multi-modal connectivity: the 109 km expressway (open), the international airport (near, in progress), the semi-high-speed rail (cleared), the Western DFC-anchored DMIC influence zone (a direct Dholera DFC link is not yet confirmed) and a Gulf of Khambhat coastal location. REPORTED That is a strong position for manufacturing and cargo, with a dedicated Logistics zone in the plan.

Priority: defence, auto and pharma

Defence, aviation and heavy engineering are official priority sectors for Dholera, suited to the airport and large contiguous land parcels. Auto and auto-ancillary, general manufacturing and metals are official target sectors, leveraging Gujarat's manufacturing base, plug-and-play plots and competitive power.
